Full planning application submitted for mixed residential and care scheme in Shrewsbury
Muller submitted a detailed planning application to Shropshire Council for demolition of a house together with a group of outbuildings and their replacement with a mixed use residential and 70-bed care home scheme in partnership with a potential end user for the care home on land situated at Sandfield, Hanwood Road, within the settlement boundary of Shrewsbury.
The property sits on Sandfield, Hanwood Road which is located approximately 2 miles southwest of Shrewsbury town centre and less than 0.5 mile to Radbrook Village. The site is 2.36 acres (9.57 ha) in size and is accessed by a private driveway from Hanwood Road, adjoining Red Deer Road to the south and west and Crowmeole Lane to the north and west.
A proposal to redevelop the site comprises of a sustainable residential scheme and a care home. The residential scheme will deliver 12 dwellings consisting of 2, 3, and 4 bedroom properties (with affordable provision) designed to high standards with private amenity spaces.
The proposed care home development comprises of a 2/3 storey purpose-built 70-bed care home. The development will address established demand of a modern residential and nursing facility which will provide high-quality care with associated car parking, communal facilities and landscaping.
The proposal also includes the provision of public open space accessible to both care home residents staff together with the occupiers of the dwellings.
