Over the past two weeks, we had the pleasure of welcoming Luke Minnett. Studying at Liverpool John Moores University for a degree in Real Estate, he was eager to learn about the intricacies of property development whilst on his summer break.
Here, we reflect on his experiences gained while working across various functions in our team.
A Glimpse into Site Selection
One of the key areas we introduced Luke to was the art of site selection. We believe that understanding how to identify and evaluate potential development sites is a foundational skill in our industry. He worked with our land team as they provided insights into how we locate sites across the country, assess land values, and identify potential constraints that could impact the viability of a project. He quickly grasped the importance of this process and appreciated the meticulous attention to detail required to ensure a successful development can be achieved.
Navigating the Planning Process
The complexity of securing planning permission can be daunting, but it is a challenge we relish at Muller Property Group. Our technical team guided Luke through the myriad of requirements involved in obtaining planning consent. From ecology reports and ground surveys to evaluating the impact on local character, he gained a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to bring a project to life. We were impressed by his keen interest in this area and ability to understand the vital role these processes play in the overall success of a planning application.
