Muller Property Group has completed the sale of its retirement living development site at Maylands Park, Nantwich, to McCarthy Stone, paving the way for 49 new retirement apartments.
Located off Peter De Stapleigh Way in Stapeley, the scheme forms part of the wider Maylands Park development and will provide purpose-built accommodation designed to support independent living for older people.
Muller and McCarthy Stone worked together to bring forward the proposals, with Cheshire East Council approving the planning application in May 2025. Completion of the sale marks the next milestone in delivering the retirement element of the development.
Designed for people aged over 60, the planned community will combine private apartments with shared facilities, including a residents’ lounge, landscaped gardens and a guest suite for visiting friends and family. An on-site House Manager and security features will provide additional reassurance, while nearby shops, services and transport links will help residents remain connected to the local community.
The scheme responds to an identified need for specialist retirement accommodation in Cheshire East, giving older households more choice when looking to downsize and find a home suited to their changing needs.
Colin Muller, Chief Executive of Muller Property Group said:
“Completing the sale to McCarthy Stone is another important step in delivering our vision for Maylands Park and providing a broader choice of homes in Nantwich.
“We have worked together to bring forward a retirement scheme that responds to local housing needs and gives older people the opportunity to live independently within a welcoming community.
“We look forward to seeing McCarthy Stone take the development forward, building on the planning work undertaken and investment made to bring this site to delivery.”
The retirement development replaces previously consented commercial uses on the site, with lower anticipated vehicle movements. Alongside providing new homes, it is expected to support construction employment and bring additional spending to local shops and services.
The sale represents further progress at Maylands Park, where Muller has brought forward plans for a mix of housing, retirement living, care accommodation and public open space.
