Muller Property Group Secures Approval for Two Residential Schemes in Maylands Park, Nantwich

Muller Property Group is pleased to announce that Cheshire East Council has today granted full planning approval for two residential development applications within the Maylands Park Development, Nantwich. These approvals pave the way for the delivery of 40 new homes and 49 retirement apartments, meeting both general and specialist housing needs in the borough.

The first application, approved for delivery by McCarthy Stone, will see the creation of 49 retirement living apartments. The development, which forms part of the wider Maylands Park mixed-use scheme approved on appeal in July 2020, addresses a significant identified need for retirement accommodation in Cheshire East. The scheme offers numerous social and health benefits for older residents while contributing to the Council’s 5-year housing land supply.

Situated on a prominent gateway site, the McCarthy Stone development is designed to complement its urbanised surroundings at the edge of this Key Service Centre. The proposal presents a more sustainable and lower-traffic alternative to the previously consented commercial uses on the site. In addition to supporting local economic growth through increased trade and job creation in the construction sector, the project will contribute positively to the vitality of the local community.

The second planning application, to be delivered by Anwyl Homes, includes 40 high-quality residential units, with 30% allocated as affordable housing. This development also replaces the extant commercial consent with a more sustainable residential use, resulting in reduced vehicle movements and more effective land use. The scheme incorporates significant areas of public open space, exceeding policy requirements and offering added social value to the community.

Both sites are located in a highly accessible area close to local services and amenities, aligning with national and local planning objectives for sustainable development.

Colin Muller, Chief Executive of Muller Property Group, commented:

“We’re delighted to have received approval for these two residential schemes, which not only bring forward much-needed housing – including specialist retirement living and affordable homes – but also demonstrate our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable development in Cheshire East. These projects will bring lasting benefits to the community, both socially and economically.”

An outline application for an 80-bed care home on adjacent land, also part of the wider mixed-use vision for Maylands Park, is currently under consideration and is expected to be determined at a forthcoming Strategic Planning Board meeting.
