Muller has owned the land in Sandyford since 2006. A number of historic planning permissions have been gained for a number of uses (trade counter, showroom, etc.) but unfortunately end users weren’t forthcoming and the permissions expired.
Keen to make use of the land, which is in a highly prominent position, Muller submitted a retail planning application in June 2018 for a coffee drive-thru, convenience store and additional retail unit.
Detailed discussions were carried out during the consultation exercise, including gaining the support of the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association, which resulted in an Officer’s recommendation for approval. The application was subsequently heard at the 7th November 2018 committee meeting and gained planning approval. Muller are currently negotiating with interested end users to confirm retail outlets of the units and develop the scheme.
Planning permission granted for a coffee drive thru, convenience store and additional retail unit. We are currently securing interest from retail parties and commencing detailed design of the scheme.
Tenders were received and analysed in April. Muller is looking to alter the planning permission from two retail units to four (retaining the Costa Coffee drive thru) and are currently liaising with Stoke-on-Trent Council.
The application for the four smaller retail units was submitted in June and a decision is expected before the end of the year.
