Working at the ‘front end’ of the planning process, it can be a few years until our sites are transformed into developments for local communities to enjoy; but it’s always a real pleasure to see the end product.
We recently attended the launch of the new, state of the art, 61-bedroom Lindley Park care home in Lindley, Huddersfield, hosted by care home operator, Tanglewood Care Homes.
Our story with this site commenced at the start of 2022 when we signed an option agreement with the landowner before submitting an outline planning application a few months later.
This was an ideal site for a much-needed care home – 0.7 acre brownfield site, quiet suburb with good transport links, and a marginally higher than average 85+ demographic. Importantly, a Care Home Need Assessment found that there is an undersupply of care home beds in the area. The need for a new care facility was certainly evident.

There were a number of challenges during the planning process, but we were able to work with the landowner to obtain planning permission and we were given the green light at the end of 2023.
We appointed Torsion as the development partner, and worked with them to ensure that the care home was designed with sustainability and carbon efficiency in mind.
Our Managing Director – Care, Julie Doherty attended the event, along with Business Development, Comms and Marketing Director, Max Muller. Commenting on the opening, Julie said: “What was a brownfield site, on which stood a number of disused buildings, has now been transformed into a state-of-the art care home that is already making a significant difference to the local area by providing much needed care beds.
“Getting a care home built and opened is a joint effort, to say the least! Well done to the teams at Tanglewood and Torsion for bringing it to life and thanks for including us in the opening celebration. It’s an honour to have played a key part in bringing a new care homeinto operation.”
The end result is ‘Lindley Park Care Home’ which is fit for the future. All bedrooms are en-suite, ensuring the privacy and dignity of each resident. And, of course, no modern care home is complete without spaces that allow for socialisation, and this was also consideration in the design.

Lindley Park has a hair salon, activity room, café, vibrant garden and various lounges(including a sports lounge). As such, it promises not only a caring environment, but a stimulating one too.
It will cater for ageing adults with a range of needs including dementia care, nursing, and palliative care. The home will create 30 new local jobs on opening and aims to become an active part of the Lindley community through engagement and shared events.
